What is Schema Markup?
Schema markup is a small piece of code that tells search engines exactly what your page is about: a business, an article, a product, a list of questions and so on. It uses a shared vocabulary from Schema.org that Google, Bing and other search engines understand.
When search engines understand your content clearly, your page can become eligible for rich results such as star ratings, breadcrumbs, business details and product prices in search. These can make your listing stand out and attract more clicks.
Why Use JSON-LD?
JSON-LD is the format Google recommends for structured data. It sits in a single script block, so you don't need to change your page design or HTML. It's easy to add, easy to update, and works perfectly with WordPress and Elementor.
Which Schema Type Should You Use?
Local Business
For shops, clinics, agencies and service providers. Shows your address, phone, hours and location to search engines.
Article
For blog posts and news. Helps Google understand the headline, author, image and publish date.
FAQ
For pages with questions and answers. Helps search engines read your Q&A content clearly.
Organization
For your homepage or About page. Connects your brand name, logo and social profiles.
Breadcrumb
Shows your page's position in the site structure, which can appear as a clean path in search results.
Product
For product pages. Shares price, availability and ratings, which can show in shopping results.
How to Add Schema Markup in WordPress
- Elementor: open the page in Elementor, drag an HTML widget anywhere on the page (the bottom is fine) and paste the code. Schema is invisible to visitors.
- Header code plugin: use a plugin like WPCode to add the code to the page's header for one specific page.
- Test it: after publishing, run the page URL through Google's Rich Results Test to check for errors.
Tip: SEO plugins like Yoast already add basic Organization and WebPage schema. Don't add a second Organization schema on the same page; use this tool for the extra types your page needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this schema markup generator free?
Yes, it's completely free with no signup and no limits. Everything runs in your browser.
Does schema markup improve Google rankings?
Schema is not a direct ranking factor. But it helps Google understand your content and can make your page eligible for rich results, which can improve your click-through rate.
Where should I paste the schema code?
Paste it anywhere on the page, such as in an Elementor HTML widget or in the page header using a plugin like WPCode. Search engines will read it either way.
Can I add more than one schema on a page?
Yes. For example, a blog post can have both Article and Breadcrumb schema. Just paste each code block separately.
Why is my FAQ rich result not showing in Google?
Google now shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. FAQ schema is still valid and helps search engines understand your content, but the dropdown result may not appear for every site.
How do I check if my schema is working?
Use the Google Rich Results Test or the Schema.org Validator (links are below the code box). Enter your page URL or paste the code to see any errors.
